WHITE CITY, Ore. — Members of Grange Co-op and Farm Supply Company have approved a merger that will unite the two agricultural cooperatives under Grange Co-op’s leadership.
More than 90% of the companies’ combined membership voted in favor of the agreement. Farm Supply Company reported 97% support among its voting members.
The merger is expected to take effect Oct. 1, 2026, following its initial announcement in June.
“We’re grateful for the trust our members placed in us with this vote. Grange Co-op and Farm Supply Company have always shared the same commitment to the farmers, ranchers, and communities we serve, and this merger lets us build on that commitment at a greater scale.”

“We’re grateful for the trust our members placed in us with this vote,” Itzen said. “Grange Co-op and Farm Supply Company have always shared the same commitment to the farmers, ranchers, and communities we serve, and this merger lets us build on that commitment at a greater scale.”
Grange Co-op to lead expanded organization
White City-based Grange Co-op currently operates eight retail stores, including six in Oregon and two in Northern California. The cooperative employs more than 330 people and operates a feed mill and central distribution facility in Oregon.
The merger will add Farm Supply Company’s five stores on California’s Central Coast, creating a combined network of seven California locations and six in Oregon.
Farm Supply stores will continue operating under the Farm Supply name, preserving the brand established in its communities over the past 76 years.
The companies said the combined cooperative will operate under a unified governance structure while preserving the member-owned model on which both organizations were built.
Greater purchasing power among expected benefits
Grange Co-op and Farm Supply Company expect the larger organization to gain increased purchasing power, improve product availability and strengthen supplier relationships.
By combining procurement volumes, the cooperative could secure more competitive pricing, expand product lines and improve supply reliability for members and customers.
Grange Co-op’s feed manufacturing and distribution capabilities are also expected to strengthen the combined operation. Feed accounts for more than 20% of Farm Supply Company’s current sales.
The broader geographic footprint could also reduce the organization’s exposure to localized market changes, weather conditions and supply disruptions.
“Farm Supply has spent decades earning the trust of the growers and ranchers we serve, and our members and Grange Co-op’s members reached the same conclusion independently: this partnership makes us stronger for the long run,” Farm Supply CEO Michael Mendes said.
Grange Co-op was founded in 1934 and serves farmers, ranchers, gardeners, pet owners and rural communities throughout Southern Oregon and Northern California. Farm Supply Company was established in 1950.
Together, the two cooperatives bring more than 160 years of combined service to agricultural communities across Oregon and California.
