The child was reported missing early Wednesday before being found deceased about an hour later.

CENTRAL POINT, Ore. — Detectives are investigating the death of a 2-year-old child who was reported missing early Wednesday morning in rural Central Point and found deceased about an hour later.
Jackson County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Oregon State Police troopers responded after emergency dispatchers received a missing child report at approximately 4:30 a.m. in the 9900 block of Blackwell Road.
Authorities immediately began searching the area.
The child was located deceased at approximately 5:41 a.m., according to JCSO.

Detectives with the sheriff’s office Criminal Investigations Division are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the child’s death. The Major Assault and Death Investigation Unit, known as MADIU, also responded to assist.
MADIU brings together investigators from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Police, Medford Police Department, Central Point Police Department, Ashland Police Department, and the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office.
The sheriff’s office said the investigation remains open and detectives are following additional leads.
No further information about the circumstances surrounding the child’s death was released Wednesday.
