JACKSON COUNTY, Ore. — State firefighting resources are being expanded Saturday morning as crews continue responding to the fast-moving Evans Creek Road Fire in Jackson County.

The Oregon State Fire Marshal announced at 6:26 a.m. Saturday that it is mobilizing four structural task forces and its Blue Incident Management Team to the fire, which grew to more than 1,500 acres Friday and threatened nearby homes and communities.

No updated acreage or containment estimate was included in the Saturday morning announcement. The fire was last estimated at approximately 1,550 acres Friday evening.

Gov. Tina Kotek invoked the Emergency Conflagration Act Friday night, allowing the state fire marshal to mobilize additional resources through the Oregon Fire Mutual Aid System. It is the first time the act has been invoked during the 2026 fire season.

The incoming structural task forces are coming from Lincoln, Linn and Marion counties, along with a south coast task force made up of resources from Coos, Curry, Lane and Douglas counties.

They will join a Klamath County task force and a Douglas County strike team that were mobilized Friday evening through the state’s Immediate Response program to assist local structural firefighting resources.

The Oregon State Fire Marshal Blue Incident Management Team will enter unified command with Oregon Department of Forestry Team 1. The teams will coordinate firefighting operations as additional personnel and equipment arrive.

“This fire is a reminder how quickly things can change with the dry conditions we have across the state,” Oregon State Fire Marshal Chief Deputy Travis Medema said. “We have a long way to go this fire season, and I ask every Oregonian to do their part to prevent wildfires.”

Jackson County remained under a mix of Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 evacuation notices Saturday morning. Residents should continue following the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office for the latest evacuation zones, road information and emergency instructions.

Jefferson Firewatch will continue monitoring updates from the Oregon Department of Forestry, Oregon State Fire Marshal, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and other responding agencies.
