MEDFORD, Ore. — Medford firefighters are moving into the new Fire Station 15 on Roberts Road as the rebuild project enters its final phase, marking a major step toward full operations at a station designed to modernize service in the area.
The Medford Fire Department said Monday that crews are moving into the new station and will soon operate from the new building instead of the temporary housing and apparatus bay used during construction.
The department also said the project is on track to be completed ahead of schedule and under budget.
The new station is located at 2124 Roberts Road and replaces Medford’s oldest and most outdated fire station, according to the City of Medford’s project page. The previous station had served the community for more than 50 years.
City officials have described the rebuild as a major investment in emergency response capacity, firefighter health and safety, and the long-term needs of the growing city.

The project has been built in phases so crews could continue responding to calls during construction. The first phase included site work and construction of a temporary apparatus bay. The second phase focused on construction of the new station. The third phase will convert the temporary bay into a logistics center.
Photos shared by Medford Fire show the red-fronted station exterior, crews moving equipment into the building and interior apparatus bays nearing operational use.
The next step is removing the temporary modular housing so paving and landscaping can be completed. Once that work is finished, Outlier Construction will convert the temporary apparatus bay into Medford Fire’s new logistics facility.
That logistics facility is expected to centralize support services and supply operations. According to the City of Medford, support services have been operating out of dorm rooms at Fire Station 16 and temporary Conex storage units, making the new logistics space a significant operational upgrade.
Once complete, Fire Station 15 is expected to be staffed with a four-person engine crew and a two-person EMS squad. The city says the building was also designed for future growth, with the ability to support two fire companies and an EMS squad as community needs evolve.
Funding for the project includes city reserves, a public safety utility fee increase and local marijuana tax revenues, according to the city.
The City of Medford project page lists a completion date of Nov. 30, 2026, though Monday’s update from Medford Fire indicates the work is now tracking ahead of schedule.
For Fire Station 15 crews, the move into the new building is both a construction milestone and a return to a permanent home after months of operating from temporary facilities.
