Fatal Coyote Creek Road Crash Claims Life of 68-Year-Old Man

The cause of the Monday afternoon crash near Wolf Creek remains unknown.

JOSEPHINE COUNTY, Ore. — A 68-year-old man died Monday afternoon after his vehicle left Coyote Creek Road near Wolf Creek and struck a large tree.

The Josephine County Sheriff’s Office identified the driver as Mark Freeland, 68.

The crash was reported at about 2:08 p.m. in the 2500 block of Coyote Creek Road. First responders arrived to find a single vehicle off the roadway after it had collided with a tree. Freeland was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say Freeland had been traveling outbound on Coyote Creek Road when the vehicle left the roadway for an unknown reason.

The sheriff’s office has not released additional information about what may have caused the crash.

Freeland’s next of kin has been notified.
