Falcons Roll to Area 4 Title, Extend Win Streak to 13

Klamath Falls finishes a dominant week at 31-3 and will host Central Point on Sunday in a fundraiser supporting the team’s upcoming state tournament trip.

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. — The Klamath Falls Falcons turned another dominant week into an American Legion Class A Area 4 championship and a return trip to the state tournament.

Klamath Falls won five games over four days, scored at least 10 runs in every contest and outscored its opponents 74-9. The Falcons completed a season sweep of the Grants Pass Cavemen before taking four straight from the Grants Pass Nuggets to finish Area 4 play unbeaten.

The Falcons clinched a share of the Area 4 South Division title Tuesday before securing the outright regular-season championship Thursday at Kiger Stadium. Klamath Falls ended the week with a 31-3 overall record and a 13-game winning streak.

Jacoby Tacchini remained at the center of the Falcons’ offensive surge. He opened the week with three hits, four RBI and his second home run of the season against the Cavemen. Tacchini followed with six RBI in the opening game against the Nuggets and continued producing throughout the series.

Ian Meyer joined Tacchini in driving the offense, collecting three hits and five RBI in Tuesday’s series opener before adding another three RBI Thursday. Corbin Hamilton delivered four RBI, including a three-run triple, as the Falcons clinched a share of the division title.

The Falcons also received championship-level performances on the mound. Kollin Tacchini struck out eight without issuing a walk in Tuesday’s opener, while P.J. Safford retired seven of the eight batters he faced and struck out five in relief during the second game.

Hamilton then tossed a two-hit shutout Thursday as Klamath Falls clinched the Area 4 regular-season championship and secured its state tournament berth. Colby Medeiros followed with a five-hit shutout in the series finale, striking out six as the Falcons extended their winning streak.

Klamath Falls will carry that momentum into the Coach K Classic at Harry & David Field in Medford. The Falcons are scheduled to face Salem at 2 p.m. Friday, July 17, followed by Reno at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, July 18.

The regular season concludes Sunday, July 19, when Klamath Falls hosts the Central Point Comets at 6 p.m. at Kiger Stadium. The matchup features the past two Oregon Class A champions. Central Point won the state title in 2024 before Klamath Falls captured the championship in 2025.

Sunday’s game will also serve as a fundraiser to help cover the Falcons’ travel and lodging expenses for next week’s Class A state tournament in North Bend. Klamath Falls will enter the tournament as one of three No. 1 seeds and could spend nearly a week on the southern Oregon coast.

Donations will be accepted at the gate, and a 50-50 raffle will be held during the game. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for seniors, while children 12 and younger will be admitted free.

The Klamath Falls Falcons are seeking community support to help cover travel and lodging costs for the upcoming American Legion Class A state tournament in North Bend and a possible regional tournament trip to Casper, Wyoming. Donations will also be accepted during Sunday’s 6 p.m. benefit game against Central Point at Kiger Stadium.

The game will also mark the final Kiger Stadium appearance for three veteran Falcons: four-year players Kollin Tacchini and P.J. Safford, along with three-year player Ian Meyer.

After a week spent earning another Area 4 championship, the Falcons now turn their attention toward defending their state title.
