Medford Police Arrest 18-Year-Old After Greenwood Street Stabbing
A 40-year-old man was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after a reported stabbing Thursday afternoon.
MEDFORD, Ore. — Medford Police arrested an 18-year-old man Thursday following a reported stabbing on Greenwood Street that left a 40-year-old man hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
According to the Medford Police Department, officers responded at approximately 1:03 p.m. June 12 to the 1800 block of Greenwood Street for a report of a stabbing.
Police said officers arrived to a chaotic scene and found the victim on the sidewalk near the residence with a stab wound to his upper arm. Officers immediately provided medical aid, including applying a tourniquet, while other officers contacted the suspect inside the home.
MPD identified the suspect as 18-year-old Trenton Furrey. Police said Furrey was taken into custody without incident.
According to investigators, the victim and suspect are related. Police said the victim is Furrey’s stepfather.
Medford detectives responded to assist with the investigation. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
During the investigation, detectives obtained a search warrant for the residence and collected additional evidence connected to the case, MPD said.
Furrey was later taken to the Medford Police Department for an interview. Police said he was lodged at the Jackson County Jail on charges of first-degree assault and second-degree assault.
The case remains under investigation. MPD said there is no ongoing threat to the public.
The case is listed as MPD Case No. 26-9548.
