Ashland Police Arrest Man After Strong-Arm Robbery
A Grants Pass man was arrested after Ashland police said he pulled a woman from a car, stole her purse and fled toward Interstate 5. Officers recovered some of the stolen property, and the victim did not report any injuries.
Gunfire, Armed Robbery Attempt Lead to Ashland Arrest
An Ashland man was arrested Wednesday following an attempted armed robbery investigation that began with reports of two men fighting in a Clover Lane parking lot. Police recovered two handguns, including one fitted with a homemade suppressor, and said a shot struck the victim’s van.
Gunfire Erupts During Medford Parking Dispute
A man was arrested Tuesday after Medford police say a parking dispute escalated into threats and gunfire near a Stevens Street business. Multiple rounds were reportedly fired, but no one was struck. Officers later located the suspect vehicle on Campus Drive and made an arrest.
Burglary Suspect Arrested After Medford SWAT Standoff
Medford police said 44-year-old Richard Estrada Jr. was arrested Monday after a SWAT standoff at a Grandview Drive residence. Police said he was wanted in connection with a July 1 burglary on Lawnridge Street involving stolen firearms.
Jackson County Jail to Reduce Bed Capacity July 1
Jackson County Sheriff Nate Sickler says the county jail will close its basement housing unit beginning July 1, reducing operational capacity from about 292 beds to 230. Sickler said rising medical, staffing and operational costs have forced difficult decisions across the agency.

Medford Police arrested an 18-year-old man Thursday after a reported stabbing on Greenwood Street left a 40-year-old man hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Police said there is no ongoing threat to the public.
Medford Police Identify Homicide Victim, Arrest Suspect
Medford police have identified the woman killed in Tuesday’s fatal assault as 43-year-old Nicole Marie Dominguez. Investigators say 19-year-old Darius McCree-Santangelo was located about 20 minutes after the initial call and lodged at the Jackson County Jail on a second-degree murder charge.

Teen Injured in Early Morning Shooting in Medford
A 16-year-old male was seriously injured in an early morning shooting Sunday near Crater Lake Avenue and Stevens Street in Medford. Police say the victim was struck in the neck when a handgun discharged during an argument with a suspect they did not know. Officers located and arrested a 21-year-old suspect nearby, and the victim is expected to recover.
Jail K9 Koda Remembered
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is mourning the loss of Corrections K9 Koda, a longtime drug detection dog who served nearly six years at the Jackson County Jail before retiring in 2024.
Man Shot by Medford Police Now Booked into Jail
The man injured in a Nov. 23 officer-involved shooting with Medford Police has been released from the hospital and lodged in the Jackson County Jail. Shane Wesley Smith, 30, of Medford, is facing multiple charges as the case heads to a Jackson County Grand Jury for review.
