Falcons Arms Set Tone in 3-1 Holiday Tournament Run
Klamath Falls opened and closed the Abby’s Pizza 4th of July Classic with shutouts, allowing just five total runs across four games in Roseburg.
ROSEBURG, Ore. — The Klamath Falls Falcons made their holiday week in Roseburg about pitching, pressure and just enough timely offense.
The Falcons improved to 20-3 overall after going 3-1 at the Abby’s Pizza 4th of July Classic, opening tournament play with a one-hit shutout, bouncing back from a one-run loss, holding on in another tight game and closing the weekend with a 12-run burst backed by a combined shutout.
Across four games from July 2-5, Klamath Falls outscored opponents 21-5 and posted two shutouts.
Kollin Tacchini set the tone Thursday, throwing a complete-game one-hitter in a 4-0 win over the Roseburg Pepsi Bottlecaps at Legion Field. Tacchini struck out seven, walked one and carried a no-hit bid into the sixth inning before Rowan Randol dropped down a bunt single for Roseburg’s only hit.
The Falcons gave Tacchini early support with a first-inning run, then added single runs in the third, fourth and seventh. Jacoby Tacchini drove in two runs, Carson Siems added an RBI, and Kollin Tacchini helped his own cause with two hits, including a double.
Klamath Falls nearly followed that opener with another win Friday, but Vencer Baseball Club pushed across two runs in the sixth inning and held off the Falcons, 3-2.
Taydon Isaacson delivered the decisive swing for Vencer, chopping a two-run single in the sixth to break a 1-1 tie. Klamath Falls answered with a run in the bottom half on a Jacoby Nickerson single, but the Falcons stranded the tying run in scoring position to end the game.

Siems had three hits and two stolen bases for Klamath Falls, while PJ Safford took the loss despite a strong start. Safford struck out seven without issuing a walk in 5.1 innings, and Poore finished with 1.2 scoreless innings, striking out four.
The Falcons responded Saturday with a 3-2 win over the Jr. Riverhawks, getting another strong outing from Hunter Glidden and a late escape from Ian Meyer.
Glidden improved to 6-0 on the season after working 5.1 innings, allowing two runs, one earned, on two hits. He struck out three before Meyer took over and worked the final 1.2 innings for the save.
Klamath Falls built a 3-0 lead with runs in the first, third and fourth innings. Siems went 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI, Safford added two hits, and Jacoby Tacchini and Meyer each drove in a run.
The Riverhawks scored twice in the fifth to pull within one, then threatened again in the seventh. Meyer worked out of a first-and-third jam to preserve the win and close out Glidden’s sixth victory of the summer.
The Falcons finished tournament play Sunday with their loudest offensive showing of the week, beating the Southern Oregon Hooks, 12-0, in five innings.
Klamath Falls scored six runs in the first inning, three more in the second, one in the third and two in the fourth. The Falcons finished with 12 hits and played error-free behind a three-pitcher shutout.
Hoblit earned the win after throwing three scoreless innings, allowing two hits and striking out two. Poore followed with a perfect inning and two strikeouts, and Medeiros closed the game with three strikeouts in the fifth.
Jacoby Tacchini went 2-for-2 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored. Hamilton had two hits, including a double, and scored twice. Rodgers added two hits and two RBIs, while Safford drove in two more.
The week gave Klamath Falls a little bit of everything: a dominant complete game, a narrow loss, a one-run bounce-back win and a run-rule shutout to close the tournament.
The Falcons return home Tuesday, July 7, hosting South Medford at 5 p.m.
