KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. — Fall activities are stacking up across the Klamath Basin this month, beginning this weekend with two days of pumpkins, hayrides, games, food, and family activities.
The 4th Annual Pumpkin Festival runs Saturday, Oct. 3, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 4, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Klamath County Fairgrounds, 3531 S. Sixth St. Admission is free.
The festival includes free scenic hayrides, a pumpkin patch, face painting, fall-themed games, local vendors, food trucks, and 10 inflatable bounce houses. Unlimited access to the inflatables is available with a $15 wristband.

But the Pumpkin Festival is only the beginning of a busy October around the Basin.
Bales & Ales returns to Common Block Brewing in downtown Klamath Falls on Sunday, Oct. 11, from noon to 5 p.m.
The annual fall event combines pumpkin carving on the patio with seasonal drinks and live music. Pumpkins and carving tools will be available, with a free pumpkin included with a purchase.
Later that week, one of the Basin’s longest-running harvest traditions returns to Merrill.
The Klamath Basin Potato Festival is scheduled for Oct. 16 and 17. The annual celebration of the region’s agricultural heritage includes a parade, food, live music, a beer garden, and other community activities throughout Merrill.
Pumpkin Express: Riders travel through the woods aboard the Klamath & Western Railroad during a fall Pumpkin Express outing. Discover Klamath /Klamath & Western Railroad.
For families looking for another fall outing, the Pumpkin Express returns to Chiloquin on two Saturdays this month.
Klamath & Western Railroad, located beside Train Mountain, will run Pumpkin Express rides Oct. 17 and Oct. 24 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The miniature railroad accepts donations for rides, with pumpkins available for purchase. No advance tickets are required.
Downtown Klamath Falls will also celebrate the season when Scarecrow Row returns Saturday, Oct. 24.
The family-friendly event runs from 10 a.m. to noon along Main Street and begins with a costume parade at 10 a.m. Downtown businesses will offer trick-or-treating, while activities coincide with the final Klamath Falls Farmers Market of the season.
Pumpkin Patch: A young visitor carries a pumpkin during the Klamath County Pumpkin Festival. 541 Jump.
Another family event is planned as Halloween approaches.
The Klamath County Library will host a Halloween Party and showing of “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!” from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, at the Main Library.
With events spread across Klamath Falls, Merrill, and Chiloquin, October offers plenty of opportunities to get outside and enjoy the fall season before colder weather settles into the Basin.
