Police Seek Man After Carjacking, Pursuit Through Grants Pass
Authorities say the suspect dragged a driver, struck another vehicle, drove into oncoming traffic and later abandoned the stolen car before fleeing on foot.

GRANTS PASS, Ore. — Grants Pass police are asking the public not to approach a man wanted after a domestic disturbance, violent car theft and dangerous pursuit Thursday morning.
Anthony Teal, 36, remained at large Thursday afternoon after a multi-agency search involving police officers, sheriff’s deputies, state troopers, K-9 teams and a drone.
The incident began shortly after 7:20 a.m., when the Grants Pass Police Department received a report of a domestic disturbance at a home in the 1400 block of Northeast Meier Drive.
Officers arrived and learned the suspect had fled through the back door. After investigating, police said they established probable cause to arrest Teal on allegations of strangulation and menacing.
At approximately 7:57 a.m., police received another report that Teal was stealing a vehicle near Northeast D Street and Beacon Drive.
According to police, Teal pulled the male driver from the car, but the driver tried to maintain control of the vehicle. Teal accelerated onto Northeast D Street while the driver was still holding on.

The stolen vehicle struck another motorist who had stopped after witnessing the car theft. Police said the crash was forceful enough to deploy the airbags in the second vehicle.
Teal then drove backward while the original driver was still being dragged, according to police. The driver was able to free himself when the vehicle stopped momentarily before Teal drove away.
American Medical Response treated the driver at the scene for injuries that were not disclosed.
Within two minutes, a Josephine County sheriff’s deputy spotted the stolen vehicle near the railroad bridge on the Grants Pass Parkway and attempted a traffic stop.
Police said Teal refused to stop and drove into oncoming traffic as the pursuit approached the South Y intersection. The deputy ended the pursuit because of the danger to other motorists.
Callers later reported seeing the vehicle run a red light and travel through turn and center lanes after law enforcement had already stopped following it.
Officers searching the Redwood Avenue area later found the stolen vehicle crashed and abandoned near Leonard Road and Willow Lane. Police determined Teal had fled on foot before officers arrived.
A large search included personnel from Grants Pass police, the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Police, the Grants Pass Police Major Crimes Unit and the Rogue Area Drug Enforcement team.
Officers also used K-9 teams and an unmanned aircraft system, but Teal was not found. Police said numerous tips were investigated throughout the day.

Police said Teal is wanted on allegations of first-degree robbery, unlawful use of a vehicle, attempting to elude, failure to leave a name at the scene of an accident, reckless driving and reckless endangering, in addition to strangulation and menacing allegations connected to the domestic disturbance.
Anyone who sees Teal should not approach him and should call 911 with his location.
