Medford Man Indicted on 12 Charges in Child Sexual Abuse Material Case
Investigators say a report involving a mobile device led to the discovery of additional child sexual abuse material and the arrest of a 29-year-old Medford man.

MEDFORD, Ore. — A report of child sexual abuse material on a mobile device led investigators to a Medford residence and the arrest of a 29-year-old man, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
The Southern Oregon Child Exploitation Team and Medford Police Department arrested Jonathan Daniel Marquez on July 23 at a residence in the 800 block of Bennett Avenue.
A Jackson County grand jury returned an indictment Tuesday charging Marquez with two counts of first-degree encouraging child sexual abuse and 10 counts of second-degree encouraging child sexual abuse.
He remained lodged in the Jackson County Jail as of Wednesday.
Investigators began looking into the case after Medford police received a report of child sexual abuse material, commonly abbreviated as CSAM, on a mobile device. Authorities said the device was seized with consent at the residence.
The Southern Oregon High Tech Crimes Task Force conducted a forensic examination of the device and located additional images of child sexual abuse material, according to the sheriff’s office.
The Southern Oregon Child Exploitation Team was formed in 2020 and includes investigators from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Medford Police Department, Oregon Department of Justice Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, and Homeland Security Investigations.
The High Tech Crimes Task Force includes investigators from the sheriff’s office, Medford police, and Homeland Security Investigations.
Authorities said no additional information was available for release.
