KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. — A 64-year-old Klamath Falls man has been arrested on three counts of Encouraging Child Sex Abuse in the First Degree following an investigation into suspected online child exploitation, according to the Klamath Falls Police Department.
Johnny Long was taken into custody Thursday, October 29, after a Klamath County grand jury returned an indictment earlier in the month.
The investigation began May 5, 2025, when Klamath Falls Police Detective Labeads Yahwhee, assigned to Internet Crimes Against Children investigations, received a tip concerning the online exploitation of children.
Police said Yahwhee initiated an investigation that eventually identified Long as a suspect.
As the investigation progressed, detectives developed probable cause to obtain a search warrant for Long's residence. Officers seized several items containing digital evidence, which were subsequently examined as part of the investigation.
Following the examination of that evidence, the case was presented to a grand jury on October 19, 2026. The grand jury returned an indictment, and an arrest warrant was issued for Long.
Police located and arrested Long on October 29 without incident. He was transported to the Klamath County Jail and lodged on three counts of Encouraging Child Sex Abuse in the First Degree.
The Police Department did not disclose additional details about the digital evidence, whether any victims had been identified, or the specific circumstances underlying the three charges.
Klamath Falls Police encourages anyone concerned about the possible sexual exploitation of a child to report it to the department at 541-883-5336 or the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children at 800-843-5678.
