The café at KCC will have a soft opening tentatively scheduled for Nov. 17. It will be located in Building 4 – site of the former Badger Bistro – just off the commons area.

“This will be a micro-version of A Leap of Taste at KCC to serve students, staff and the local community,” Mueller said.

The menu will be a minimized selection of the original menu, including five popular sandwiches, breakfast burritos, tacos, breakfast sandwiches, baked goods and a full coffee menu. The menu emphasizes scratch-made items, local ingredients, and natural dyes, avoiding processed goods.

“All of our soups, sauces, our salsas, even our coffee mixes, like our Mexican mochas, are created from scratch,” he said. “There's a lot of effort and thought that goes into each item.”

An example includes hand-mixed seasonal drinks like a pumpkin spice made with real pumpkin puree.

Operating hours will be Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

By early next year, the café hopes to renovate one of the rooms in Building 4 to accommodate tables, chairs and comfortable sofas, similar to the vibe of the downtown location. DoorDash service may be provided in the future as well.

“The goal is to create a cozy, inviting environment using repurposed furniture and local art for the walls,” Keegen said.
