88-Year-Old Pedestrian Dies After Merlin Road Crash
Josephine County deputies say the pedestrian was struck by a car Friday evening and later died at an area hospital.
JOSEPHINE COUNTY, Ore. — An 88-year-old pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle Friday evening on Merlin Road, according to the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded at approximately 8:18 p.m. Sept. 11 to a vehicle-versus-pedestrian crash near the 2600 block of Merlin Road.
Investigators said a Geo Metro was traveling east on Merlin Road when it struck a male pedestrian. The driver remained at the scene.
The pedestrian was identified as Scott Starke, 88. He was transported to an area hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
The Sheriff’s Office said the investigation remains active. Pending the results of evidence gathered in the case, any potential charges will be referred to the Josephine County District Attorney’s Office.
Starke’s next of kin has been notified.
The Josephine County Sheriff’s Office said no additional information will be released at this time.
