Crews Knock Down West Medford Structure Fire
Three fire departments responded Wednesday as crews worked through water supply challenges.

MEDFORD, Ore. — Firefighters from three local departments worked Wednesday evening to contain a large structure fire in west Medford that sent a column of dark smoke over the area and temporarily closed a section of West Main Street.
Crews were dispatched to the area of West Main Street and Arnold Lane, with Jackson County Fire District 3 reporting the fire in the 4000 block of West Main Street shortly after 5 p.m.
Medford Fire, Jackson County Fire District 3, and Jacksonville Fire Department responded as part of the coordinated effort.

Medford Fire said crews encountered several challenges during the response, including water supply, and expected operations to continue for an extended period.
West Main Street was temporarily closed between Highway 238 and Pioneer Avenue while firefighters worked and law enforcement assisted with traffic control.
By approximately 6:30 p.m., fire officials reported the fire had been knocked down. Crews remained on scene into the evening extinguishing hot spots and conducting mop up operations.
Roads in the area were later reopened.
The cause of the fire remains unknown and is under investigation. Fire officials have not released additional information about the extent of the damage or whether anyone was injured.
