Two Ashland Homes Left Unlivable After Afternoon Fire
Firefighters reached the Walker Avenue blaze within minutes as smoke rose over the city during a Red Flag Warning
ASHLAND, Ore. — A large plume of smoke rose over Ashland Wednesday afternoon as firefighters battled a structure fire that spread from one home to another, leaving both residences unlivable.
The fire broke out near Walker Avenue and Ashland Street, a busy area of the city, at a time when Southern Oregon was under a Red Flag Warning and residents were already on heightened alert for fire.
Ashland Fire & Rescue was dispatched at 3:04 p.m. The first engine arrived just over three and a half minutes later and found heavy fire coming from one of the homes.
Despite the intensity of the flames, everyone inside both residences made it out safely, including a dog.
The fire eventually affected a neighboring home before crews were able to bring it under control. Firefighters from Jackson County Fire District 5 assisted Ashland crews, while Ashland Police helped support the response.

Photos released by Ashland Fire & Rescue show flames consuming portions of the property as crews worked close to the structures to stop the fire from spreading farther.
Both homes were left unlivable, displacing the residents. The American Red Cross responded to assist those affected.
No injuries were reported.
Ashland Fire & Rescue had not released a cause for the fire as of Thursday.
