Red Flag Warnings have been issued for Friday across parts of Southern Oregon and Northern California, including Klamath, Lake, Modoc and Siskiyou counties, as thunderstorms are expected to bring abundant lightning over dry fuels.

The Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help identifying a woman whose body was found June 8 on Klamath National Forest property near Hawkinsville. Officials said the woman had dyed red hair, no visible tattoos, and was believed to be between 45 and 55 years old.

Nearly five years after the Lava Fire burned across the northern slopes of Mount Shasta, the Shasta-Trinity National Forest says crews have planted more than 1.47 million seedlings across 2,769 acres as part of a long-term reforestation effort.
