Michael Brinen Cutts was arrested less than 24 hours after Grants Pass police identified him as a person of interest in a major assault that left a man hospitalized. Police credit ALPR technology and regional law enforcement partnerships with helping shorten the search.

A 16-year-old male was seriously injured in an early morning shooting Sunday near Crater Lake Avenue and Stevens Street in Medford. Police say the victim was struck in the neck when a handgun discharged during an argument with a suspect they did not know. Officers located and arrested a 21-year-old suspect nearby, and the victim is expected to recover.
