MEDFORD, Ore. — A Medford man has been sentenced to nearly six years in prison after pleading guilty to robbing a KeyBank on East Barnett Road earlier this summer.

Anthony James Blank, 44, pleaded guilty Sept. 10 to second-degree robbery. Jackson County Circuit Court Judge Laura Cromwell sentenced him to 70 months — five years and 10 months — in prison, followed by three years of post-prison supervision.

Blank was also ordered to pay restitution.

The sentence was imposed under Oregon’s Measure 11 and will be served without the possibility of early release.

The robbery happened on the afternoon of July 30 at the KeyBank on East Barnett Road in Medford.

Investigators said Blank changed clothing before entering the bank in an effort to conceal his identity. Wearing a medical mask and Taco Bell visor, he approached a teller and handed over a note written on a fake $100 bill.

The note stated, “I have a gun. Put the money in the bag. No dye packs, hurry up.”

The teller handed Blank $295, and he fled the area on a scooter.

Medford Police released surveillance images from the robbery on social media during the investigation. A Jackson County Community Justice probation officer later identified Blank as the person shown in the images.

Investigators obtained a search warrant for Blank’s apartment and recovered clothing connected to the robbery, including the Taco Bell visor and shirt he was wearing inside the bank.

Police were never able to determine whether Blank actually had a firearm during the robbery. Investigators said Blank confessed but denied possessing a gun.

Blank told investigators he spent the stolen money on food, video poker, and a motel room before his arrest.

The conviction is Blank’s second for second-degree robbery. In 2018, he was convicted in Jackson County Circuit Court of robbing a Crown Market in Medford with a knife.

Jefferson Daily previously reported on the July robbery while Medford Police were searching for the suspect.

Medford Police investigated the case with assistance from the FBI.
