Luis Puga-Mendoza Sentenced to 12½ Years for Sexually Abusing Two Minors
Jackson County judge imposes consecutive Measure 11 sentences after Puga-Mendoza pleads guilty to two counts of first-degree sexual abuse

MEDFORD, Ore. — Luis Puga-Mendoza, 42, has been sentenced to 12½ years in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of first-degree sexual abuse involving two minor victims.
Jackson County Circuit Court Judge Charles Kochlacs sentenced Puga-Mendoza to 75 months in prison on each count, with the sentences to be served consecutively for a total of 150 months.
The entire sentence was imposed under Oregon’s Measure 11 and must be served day-for-day, without reductions, according to the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office.
The charges stemmed from reports made to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office involving sexual abuse of two minors.
Prosecutors said the case was resolved following a settlement conference attended by the victims, who participated in the process and supported the outcome.
Because of the sensitive circumstances and to protect the victims’ privacy, prosecutors said no additional information that could lead to their identification will be released.
Following his release from prison, Puga-Mendoza will be required to register as a sex offender and will be placed on post-prison supervision.
The Jackson County District Attorney’s Office recognized the victims for coming forward and reporting the abuse and thanked the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and Children’s Advocacy Center of Jackson County for their assistance in the investigation.
