Man Killed in Klamath Falls Shooting; Suspect Arrested
The Klamath County Major Crime Team served multiple search warrants before arresting a 46-year-old man.

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. — A 54-year-old man was killed in a shooting Thursday night in Klamath Falls, and investigators have arrested a suspect on a murder charge.
Klamath Falls Police officers were dispatched at approximately 10:56 p.m. Aug. 27 to the 1900 block of Wantland Avenue after receiving a report that a man had been shot.
When officers arrived, they found 54-year-old Saul Eduardo Estrada with life-threatening injuries. Estrada was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Klamath County Major Crime Team was activated and took over the investigation.
Police said the investigation led to multiple search warrants being served and the arrest of 46-year-old Joseph Kerekes.
Kerekes was lodged in the Klamath County Jail on charges of second-degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon, and reckless endangerment.
The Klamath County Major Crime Team includes investigators from Klamath Falls Police, the Klamath County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Police, and the Klamath County District Attorney’s Office.
Authorities have not released additional details about what led to the shooting or the relationship, if any, between Estrada and Kerekes.
