A New Name for the Same Local Mission
HiveWire Daily becomes Jefferson Daily News, carrying forward the same independent regional mission with a name rooted in the place we serve.
Brian Gailey, Publisher & Founder, Jefferson Daily News
“Southern Oregon and Northern California are connected by more than a state line. This region shares weather, wildfire seasons, highways, school rivalries, public lands, small towns, hard-working families, and stories that often do not stop at the border. For generations, many have referred to this broader region as Jefferson. For us, that name is not about politics. It is about geography, identity, and the people who call this place home.”
For nearly a decade, I have had the privilege of helping tell local stories in the Klamath Basin.
That work began with Klamath Falls News and, over time, grew into something larger. What started as a local news effort rooted in Klamath Falls has expanded across a much wider region — from the Wild Rivers Coast to the Oregon Outback, from the top of Willamette Pass to the bottom of Siskiyou County.
Today, that work is taking on a new name.
HiveWire Daily has become Jefferson Daily News.
The reason is simple: the name should reflect the place.
Southern Oregon and Northern California are connected by more than a state line. This region shares weather, wildfire seasons, highways, school rivalries, public lands, small towns, hard-working families, and stories that often do not stop at the border. For generations, many have referred to this broader region as Jefferson. For us, that name is not about politics. It is about geography, identity, and the people who call this place home.
Jefferson Daily News will continue the same work readers have come to expect: local news, weather, sports, wildfire coverage, outdoors, arts, culture, public safety, and community stories from across the region.
The branding is changing. The mission is not.
We are still locally owned. We are still independent. We are still part of Jefferson Media Group / Gailey Company LLC. And we are still committed to providing free, accessible regional news for Southern Oregon and Northern California.
What was once Klamath Falls News evolved into HiveWire Daily. Now, it becomes Jefferson Daily News. A regional newsroom built to tell the stories of Jefferson with more clarity, more purpose, and a name that better fits the communities we serve.
No matter which part of this region you call home: Klamath Basin, Rogue Valley, Cascades, Siskiyous, Shasta Valley, Modoc Range, or the Wild Rivers Coast; Jefferson Daily News is here for you.
Same mission. Same commitment. New name.
Welcome to Jefferson Daily News.
