Tickets for Southern Oregon University’s five-game home football schedule go on sale Aug. 6. Season-ticket and tailgate-pass renewals begin Aug. 3, with the Raiders set to host Western Oregon, Dakota State, Simpson, Arizona Christian, and College of Idaho.
Heard Named Interim SOU Women’s Basketball Coach
Southern Oregon University has named longtime Crater coach and athletic director David Heard its interim head women’s basketball coach for the 2026-27 season. Heard, an SOU alumnus, has assisted the Raiders with basketball operations and recruiting since 2023.
SOU Reveals 2026 Sports Hall of Fame Class
Southern Oregon University will induct six new members into the SOU Sports Hall of Fame this fall, honoring Raider standouts from women’s basketball, softball, cross country, football, wrestling and volleyball during a Sept. 26 ceremony in Ashland, with recognition during Raider football.
Kloppenburg-Pruitt Leaves SOU for Alma Mater
Carlotta Kloppenburg-Pruitt has resigned as Southern Oregon University’s head women’s basketball coach after five standout seasons with the Raiders. She leaves SOU with a 134-31 record and will take over at her alma mater, Point Loma Nazarene University.
Oregon Tech, SOU Earn Conference Academic Honor
Oregon Tech and Southern Oregon University both earned the Cascade Conference Presidents Cup for Academic Excellence, recognizing strong student-athlete performance in the classroom during the 2025-26 academic year.
SOU Softball Earns NAIA Honors, Gold Gloves After World Series Run
Southern Oregon University softball wrapped up a standout 2026 season with a No. 5 national ranking, multiple All-America honors, two NAIA Rawlings Gold Gloves, an All-World Series selection and recognition for its sports information team.
Raiders, Owls Earn NFCA Regional Honors
Oregon Tech and Southern Oregon University both landed multiple NFCA regional softball honors following the 2026 season. Four Owls earned All-Region IV recognition, while SOU’s coaching staff was named Region III Staff of the Year and four Raiders were named all-region.
Raiders’ Title Defense Ends
Southern Oregon’s national title defense came to an end Monday at the NAIA Softball World Series in Columbus, Georgia. The No. 3-seeded Raiders lost 5-2 to Southeastern and 3-1 to Indiana Wesleyan, ending a 45-15 season and a 16-game winning streak.

Southern Oregon University will compete on two national stages next week as Raider softball returns to the NAIA Softball World Series as the No. 3 overall seed and six SOU track and field athletes head to the NAIA Outdoor Championships in North Carolina.
SOU Beach Volleyball Celebration Set
Southern Oregon University will celebrate its national championship beach volleyball team with a parade and trophy presentation Monday, May 18, in Ashland. The Raiders won the NAIA Beach Volleyball Invitational on April 25, capturing the program’s first national title in its fourth season.
