Social Media Policy

Jefferson Daily News welcomes conversation, questions, corrections, story tips, and respectful disagreement across our social media pages.

Our goal is simple: real people, real conversations, and respectful community discussion.

We know local news can bring strong opinions. That is okay. Disagreement is welcome. Harassment, threats, spam, personal attacks, and bad-faith disruption are not.

By commenting on Jefferson Daily News social media pages, you agree to the following guidelines.

General Expectations

We ask everyone participating on our pages to:

  • Engage respectfully

  • Stay on topic

  • Contribute in good faith

  • Avoid personal attacks

  • Respect other readers, sources, agencies, and community members

You do not have to agree with us or with each other. But comments should help move the conversation forward, not shut it down.

Free Speech and Page Moderation

Jefferson Daily News respects free expression and welcomes thoughtful discussion, questions, corrections, and disagreement.

Our social media pages are privately managed community spaces operated by Jefferson Media Group / Gailey Company LLC on third-party social media platforms. Comments on these pages must follow our community standards as well as the rules of the platform where they appear.

Moderation of comments on Jefferson Daily News pages is not based on whether someone agrees with us. It is based on behavior, accuracy, safety, relevance, and respect for others.

Readers are free to express their views elsewhere, including on their own pages and platforms. Participation on Jefferson Daily News pages requires following the standards we set for the community spaces we manage.
