A child exploitation investigation that began overseas led federal, state, and local authorities to serve a search warrant at a Medford residence Wednesday. Investigators seized digital devices and are working to identify a suspect.

Medford Police have identified the two people arrested after an armed robbery investigation led to a pursuit north on Interstate 5. Sharlene Elizabeth Paul, 49, and Cody Katcheech, 36, now face charges tied to the Walgreens robbery and Tuesday’s chase.

The Medford Police Department says illegal encampments have declined significantly since 2023, while the city’s Livability Team has expanded outreach and case support services. According to the city, Medford reported 13 illegal encampments in March 2026, down from 186 in March 2023.

A man armed with an axe was shot during an apparent apartment break-in attempt early Tuesday in Medford, according to police. Authorities say no other injuries were reported.

Four people with outstanding warrants were taken into custody Thursday after Medford Police conducted a SWAT-assisted operation at a residence in the 4500 block of Wolf Run, following reports of suspicious activity and a possible firearm.
