A 72-year-old Cave Junction man was killed Friday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 199 in Josephine County. Oregon State Police say the pickup crossed the centerline and northbound lane before leaving the roadway and striking several trees.

Firefighters made additional progress overnight on the Waldo and Ridge Vista fires near Cave Junction, pushing mop-up deeper into both fire areas while preparing for another day of extreme heat and critically dry fuels.

Smoke was observed coming from the roofline upon arrival, and firefighters entered the building to confirm and extinguish the blaze.
