U.S. Coast Guard Helicopter Rescues Injured Rafter from Remote Rogue River
An injured rafter was rescued from a remote section of the Rogue River west of Galice after suffering a severe leg injury Sunday evening. With limited access and no cell service in the area, the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office coordinated with the U.S. Coast Guard to reach the rafter by helicopter.
Human Remains Recovered Near Grave Creek Believed to Be Missing Man
Human remains believed to be those of a missing Grants Pass resident were recovered from steep terrain near Reuben Mountain. A formal identification remains pending as investigators await an autopsy by the Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office.
Motorcyclist Airlifted; Two Fires Responded to in Josephine County
Emergency crews in Josephine County responded to multiple incidents over the weekend, including a motorcycle crash near Galice that required an airlift to a Medford-area trauma hospital. Firefighters also contained a half-acre brush fire caused by an unattended burn and extinguished a fully involved chicken coop fire ignited by a heat lamp, which resulted in the loss of eight baby chickens.
